Obstetric Care is Personal at Honu Women’s Health
At Honu Women’s Health, we understand how important it is to deliver personalized obstetric care to each individual patient. We do not approach obstetrics with a one-size-fits-all approach. Rather, we believe in listening to your requests and working hand-in-hand with you to develop a birth plan that you can be proud of and confident in. Our ultimate goal is to provide a healthy, happy and exceptional birth experience while partnering with you for every step of your pregnancy.
Starting Your Pregnancy Journey
If you have not conceived yet, we would like to invite you to schedule an appointment for preconception counseling. At this appointment, you will meet one-on-one with our board-certified OB/GYN, Dr. Aya Sultan, who can answer any questions that you may have about getting pregnant and offer individualized advice for optimizing your health in preparation for pregnancy.
When you do become pregnant, Honu Women’s Health is your full-service provider of all pregnancy-related care, including nutrition counseling, genetic testing, gestational diabetes testing and more. As our patient, you will also be monitored for anemia and blood pressure issues. Appointments will be held monthly up to 28 weeks, bi-monthly from 29-36 weeks and weekly starting at 37 weeks.
With so much focus on prenatal care and birth, it is easy to forget how important postpartum support is after your baby arrives. Although now identified as the "Fourth Trimester" to emphasize the continued importance of maternal care, we at Honu Women's Health have always recognized the significance of this time and offer extended care after delivery to assist women through the momentous and sometimes overwhelming transition to motherhood. For new mothers, we provide breastfeeding support, nutritional counseling, hormone therapy and more. We care for your total body health, including your mental and physical health, to ensure that your body is optimized for caring for a newborn.
We also want to ensure your body properly heals after delivery (whether via cesarean or vaginal birth). Being a woman is beautiful and awe-inspiring—our bodies can experience life-changing events like childbirth and pregnancy. While some women are able to bounce back without assistance, some women need or want additional support, like the right type of hormones (or birth control) to regulate their cycles or diVa® laser therapy to help with issues like vaginal laxity or dryness. Many new mothers also take advantage of our SculpSure® body contouring system which is used to reduce areas of stubborn fat that may be left from pregnancy.
For this last and final step in your pregnancy story, know that we are with you.

Considerations for Obstetric Care
Choosing a health care provider for pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care is a major decision and one that should be made with careful consideration and research. For women seeking a detail-oriented, board-certified OB/GYN who truly listens to and partners with patients, Honu Women’s Health is an ideal choice. We value your time and work hard to ensure minimal wait times at appointments. Here, your appointments with Dr. Sultan will not be rushed. She will answer all of your questions (no matter how insignificant you feel that they may be) and will intently listen to your goals for birth to help you develop a custom-fit plan for delivery. Please be advised, however, that we do not participate in home births.
