Laser Hair Reduction
At Honu Women’s Health, our goal is to empower women to look and feel their best—on the inside and the outside. Unwanted hair can detract from a woman’s self-confidence and traditional hair reduction methods like waxing, plucking, and shaving can be painful and time-consuming. They can also worsen certain medical conditions like Hidradenitis suppurativa or not keep up with rapid heavy, coarse hair growth from other conditions like PCOS. Honu Women’s Health is pleased to offer laser hair reduction treatments to reduce unwanted hair growth.

Common Treatment Areas
Laser hair reduction works best on dark hair because the laser targets pigment and darker hair absorbs the laser energy better. No matter how coarse your hair is, it’s no match for our laser! Best of all, the treatment is quick and relatively painless. The following areas are the most commonly treated:
- Upper Lip
- Bikini Line
- Chin
- Underarms
- Chest and Abdominal Area
- Shoulders
- Legs
- Back
Don’t see your target area, ask us; chances are we’ve treated that too!
Achieving Your Best Results
Our goal for every patient is for the results to be long-lasting. Hair grows in three stages of development, so to achieve these results, patients usually need a series of at least three to eight treatments (depending on how sparse or heavily populated the area), spaced about four to twelve weeks apart (depending on area treated). As with any treatment plan at Honu Women’s Health, this will be customized based on your unique needs, and the number of treatments you need will depend on the type of hair in your treatment area.
We want to target the hair while it’s in the anagen phase, which is when it will respond best to treatment. However, only one-third of human hair is in the anagen phase at any given time, which is why patients typically need more than three treatments to achieve optimal results.
Our laser hair reduction patients will receive a free consultation with Dr. Sultan to develop a customized treatment plan. You’ll need to have a few days of hair growth before the treatment, and afterward, you will need to avoid shaving, waxing or tweezing for several days. Your treated skin may experience slight redness or discoloration after the procedure, but you should not experience permanent discoloration or scarring if you follow closely the pre- and post-care instructions we supply.
